One person has been arrested in an alleged attack on a baby and her mother in Vancouver.
According to the Vancouver Police Department, the incident took place yesterday, involving a one-year-old baby and his mother.
VPD says that the mother was walking with her baby in a stroller along East Hastings Street, near Princess Avenue. The incident took place at around 4:40 p.m. VPD says that the mother was approached by an unknown woman.
After being approached by the stranger, the mother told VPD officers that the woman demanded money.
“During the altercation, the suspect grabbed her baby by the hair. No one was physically injured,” VPD said.
Another incident occurred involving the suspect.
Police say that immediately following the incident, CCTV cameras captured a woman who matched the suspect’s description approaching an unidentified man and punching him in the face.
“There was an altercation and the suspect left.”
Around 10 minutes later, police received a report of a woman, again matching the suspect’s description, attempting to steal alcohol from a liquor store located nearby.
Police attended the scene and managed to arrest the suspect, who was later taken to jail and then to the hospital for a pre-existing condition.
“Police are requesting assault charges and a warrant be issued upon her release from hospital,” VPD shared.
The file remains under investigation, and the police have not named a suspect.
