Multiple Vancouver-area mountains will be closed on January 2 due to heavy rainfall.

In a tweet, Grouse Mountain said that the Downhill Area, Skyride, Chalet Facilities, and all mountaintop activities would be closed today due to inclement weather.

All Snow School lessons have been postponed, according to the resort’s website.

Mount Seymour took to its own Twitter account to announce that it would be closed on January 2, and that all ticket holders would be contacted to reschedule their activities.

The weather is also to blame for Mount Seymour’s closure.

Both ski resorts stated that they would reopen on Sunday, January 3.

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Metro Vancouver, including West Vancouver and North Vancouver.

The weather authority is cautioning that up to 50 millimetres of rain is expected to fall in some areas.
