A US man wanted for the murder of his girlfriend was arrested at a hospital in White Rock on Monday afternoon.

On January 28, the Pierce Country Sherriff’s Office in Washington State tweeted that Jordan Eaton had reportedly shot his girlfriend that morning, and fled Puyallup where he stole a van.

The Sheriff’s office later tweeted that the suspect was arrested across the border in Surrey, BC.

“Homicide suspect arrested by RCMP in Surrey, British Columbia. Suspect illegally crossed border & was located at hospital; suspect ran from officers & arrest after short foot pursuit. Suspect was found armed. Stolen van recovered in Blaine by Whatcom Co Sheriff,” stated the tweet.

Sgt. Chad Greig with Surrey RCMP confirmed that his department received a call at 1 pm from the BC RCMP federal policing section about a US homicide suspect may have crossed the border into Canada.

At approximately 1:20 pm, Surrey RCMP officers located the suspect at Peace Arch Hospital.

Greig said that he was arrested after a brief foot pursuit and taken into custody.

“The man was allegedly found in possession of a loaded firearm upon arrest. We are very grateful that none of our officers or any member of the public were injured in the incident,” said Greig.

The suspect remains in custody in Canada. Greig says that Surrey RCMP will be working with their policing partners at the Pierce Country Sheriff’s Department “to determine the next steps.”
