Someone bought a $500,000 lottery ticket in Vancouver that will soon expire

Are you half a million dollars richer but don’t even realize it? It’s been nearly 52 weeks, but still, no one has come forward to claim a $500,000 prize from a lottery ticket sold in Vancouver.

The winning Daily Grand Extra ticket was purchased last summer for the July 21, 2025, draw.

With less than a month to go before the claim window expires, BCLC wants the winner to come forward before it’s too late.

According to a release from BCLC, players can check their tickets at any BCLC lottery retailer in the province, as well as anytime online or on the BCLC Lotto! App.

“Where were you last July?” queried the lottery corporation in a release. “If you were in Vancouver, be sure to check your beach bags, suitcases and junk drawers.”

All lotto winners have 52 weeks from the draw date printed on the ticket to claim their prize, so the winning ticket will expire on July 21, 2026.

The lottery winner’s name and the specific retail location where the winning lotto ticket was bought will be released after the winner has come forward, according to BCLC.

The Daily Grand Extra draw numbers from July 21, 2025, are: 7, 16, 67 and 98.

Shelley Wong from BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) Media Relations previously told Daily Hive that only a small percentage of lottery wins go unclaimed each year.

“Most unclaimed prizes are for a small amount, such as a few dollars. It is extremely rare for major prizes of $10,000 or more to go unclaimed,” Wong said.

“When a winning lottery ticket for a prize of $500,000 and above is set to expire, BCLC works to raise awareness through social media and media outreach to help remind players to check their tickets in the hopes of finding the winner.”

BCLC added that, so far in 2026, B.C. lottery players have redeemed over $18 million in winnings from Extra as well as more than $3 million in Daily Grand winnings.

Lotto tickets purchased in B.C. seem to have a bit of luck tied to them,

A Victoria lottery winner spoiled his mom after winning $2 million from a scratch ticket.

An everyday trip to the grocery store came with a surprise for a North Vancouver lottery winner who won a $500,000 Extra prize on the Lotto 6/49 draw.
