UBC named one of the top 40 universities in the world

The University of British Columbia (UBC) placed 37th in the 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

The ranking, released on September 26, also features the University of Toronto and Montreal’s McGill University which placed 21st and 44th, respectively.

The report lists over 1,250 universities in the world and claims to be the “only global university performance table to judge research-intensive universities across all of their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.”

Universities were ranked on 13 criteria, including teaching, research, citations, industry income, and international outlooks.

England’s University of Oxford placed first on the list for the third year in a row, while the US is home to seven of the top 10 universities in 2018.
