Two people killed during overnight shooting in Richmond

Richmond RCMP are investigating after two people were found dead in what they say was an overnight shooting at home in the early-morning hours on Monday.

The investigation began just after 2:30 am, when police responded to a residence in the 6600 block of Eckersley Road, for reports of gunfire.

Upon their arrival, police found two people dead inside the home.

As a result, police said the area around the home will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time, as the investigation continues.

Richmond RCMP said the the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been contacted and has now taken conduct of the investigation.

Police said the deaths do not appear to be random, but are not offering any further details at this time.
