T&T Supermarket has temporarily closed its Coquitlam location due to COVID-19

Dec 2 2020, 7:50 pm

In a December 1 statement, T&T Supermarket CEO Tina Lee announced the #2740-2929 Barnet Highway location in Coquitlam would be voluntarily closing on December 2 and reopening on December 5.

Lee stated that this closure was prompted by an “unsettling” virus situation at the store and that the company was “determined to stamp it out.”

This means the Coquitlam store will use the days it is closed to undergo a deep sanitization, and it will allow staff to monitor symptoms and get tested for the virus.

There have been several employee cases at the Coquitlam store reported by the company over the past few weeks.

Here is Lee’s full statement about the temporary closure.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, T&T has been an early adopter of COVID-19 safety measures. The virus situation at [the] Coquitlam store is unsettling, so we are determined to stamp it out.

It’s time for our Coquitlam store staff to take a break, and for the company to take even stronger measures.

T&T will voluntarily close Coquitlam store on Dec 2 and will reopen on Saturday Dec 5. During this time, the entire store will undergo another deep sanitization. This allows time for all staff to get tested, and for any potential virus particles on surfaces to dissipate.
