Good news for TV fans! HBO and Netflix dropped the first trailers for the new seasons of crime-drama “True Detective” and comedy-drama “Orange is the New Black”, both set to premiere in June.

In the midst of the spring television drought, it’s always nice to get pumped for brand new seasons of our favourite shows. With “Game of Thrones” and “Veep” premiering this weekend, there’s just enough to tide us over until June when two of TV’s biggest critical hits come back.

One of the greatest shows to grace the small screen is back for a second season. HBO’s original series “True Detective” second season will start on June 21. Fans of season one may be disappointed to know that neither Woody Harrelson or Matthew McConaughey will return for season 2, but Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and – Vancouverite – Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights) will be leading the series’ return.

Farrell, McAdams and Kitsch will play police officers alongside Vaughn as a career criminal.

“A bizarre murder brings together three law-enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in the scorched landscapes of California,” HBO announced.

The trailer is dark and moody, just like the show, and we’ve never seen Rachel McAdams look so bad-ass.

Meanwhile on Netflix, the women of Litchfield are back to raise jail house havoc with a 14-episode run. Premiering on June 12, the series will welcome back Alex, Piper’s drug-muling romantic partner, and introduce a possible chink in the chain – actress Ruby Rose who will play a competing love interest for both women. Actor Jason Biggs, who played Larry, Piper’s fiance, has officially left the show.

From the trailer alone, we can assume a.) Alex is none too happy to be back in prison; b.) Piper is coming to terms with, and maybe enjoying, the fact that she’s in prison; and c.) Crazy Eyes has a wild, and erotic, imagination.

Take a look for yourself.
