The Prime Minister tweeted a photo of the event, and said he had a “good meeting” with the group, which included discussions on such topics climate change, gender equality, and community.
Always great to be back in my riding! I had a good meeting with the Papineau Youth Council today. Thanks for your ideas on how we can fight climate change, advance gender equality, and make our community – and Canada – better for everyone. pic.twitter.com/Rzc5eMrwz4

But it wasn’t what he said, it was what people saw in the photo that caused an uproar online: There, on the table, in the foreground of the photo, a collection of – wait for it – plastic forks.
And with all the talk by the Liberals lately of everything from the carbon tax to announcing a ban on single-use plastics in Canada by 2021, the Internet wasn’t about to let this observation quietly slide.
And where are the box drinking water things

I have two major problems with Trudeau’s publicity photo:
1. The pile of plastic forks and knives (also referred to as a pile of hypocrisy).
2. Who eats pizza with a fork and knife?!!#cdnpoli #Trudeau #plasticfree

Earlier this month, Trudeau appeared to get tongue-tied while answering a reporter’s questions regarding what he and his family were doing to cut out plastic waste while announcing his government’s plans to ban single-use plastics.
