The latest to hit the market is the FDA cleared at-home use Tria Age-Defying Laser which is the same fractional laser treatment you can score at your dermatologist’s office.

Experts are calling it a game-changer. And we’re not surprised, given the clinical results that say 90% of women who have tried Tria have seen positive results. Do we have your attention now?

We chatted with their R&D team to get the low-down on the Tria Age-Drying Laser.

Q: What is the Tria laser in a nutshell?
The Tria Age-Defying Laser is a non-ablative, fractional laser that repairs deep below the skin’s surface to stimulate collagen and elastin production. The result is a reduction in fine lines, wrinkles and discolouration and smoothing of skin’s texture.

Q: What type of laser treatment is the Tria?
The Age-Defying Laser uses the same fractional laser technology preferred by dermatologists to diminish fine lines, wrinkles and discolouration for smoother, more radiant skin.

Q: Why is collagen important?
Youthful skin is rich in collagen, which is what gives your skin lift and support. Over time, the body produces less collagen, and exposure to sunlight slows the development of new collagen.

This can result in wrinkles, especially around the eyes, and other signs of aging. The laser light from the Age-Defying Laser can activate your body’s own natural collagen renewal process to stimulate the growth of new skin cells to reduce fine lines and produce smoother skin.

The Age-Defying Laser treats into the dermal layer; beams of light penetrate the skin to create microscopic zones of cellular disruption. The skin feels warm, but the surface is left undisturbed. The body’s natural healing process begins, working to rapidly heal the treated areas under the skin by stimulating collagen production. As new collagen forms, fine lines, wrinkles and discolouration are naturally sloughed away.

Q: Explain the steps for using the Tria?
First, you should prepare your skin for treatment by washing and drying your face with the Priming Cleanser, specially formulated to remove any impurities that can block the laser light.

(VcB Tip: ensure your skin is fully dried as its easier to move the device around)

Next, select your treatment level on your Age-Defying Laser. You should start on Training Level 1 so your skin can become adjusted to the sensation of the laser. Then work your way up to Level 2 and 3. Based on the clinical study, Treatment Levels 2 and 3 were shown to significantly improve periorbital wrinkles for most participants. Better results were obtained when using Treatment Level 3.

Once you have selected your treatment level, place the treatment tip flat against your skin and glide the laser slowly side-to-side across the zone you wish to treat. Post-treatment, use the Finishing Serum to soothe and nourish the skin.

It is very important to keep your skin hydrated during the treatments, so you will want to use the Super C Brightening Moisturizer which is proven to deliver up to 4X more brightening ingredients into the skin when following laser treatment. 2 nights a week, you can add a boost of hydration with the Overnight Brightening Boost Facial.

(VcB Tip: Play around with the device’s angle on your skin to ensure it is continuously running. The laser will detect when it isn’t properly pressed up to your skin and will momentarily stop.)

You will treat 7 nights a week for 8 weeks. The treatment time depends on what level you are treating at. Level 1 – 2 minutes; Level 2 – 4 minutes; Level 3 – 10 minutes.

(VcB Tip: Move up in levels based on your comfort level. No one knows your skin better then you do and since you’re in control, its easy to alter the levels.)

Q: Is it pain-free and how much downtime is there?
The treatment feels like little pin pricks but most people do not consider it painful. We recommend treating at night because you will have some redness post treatment that generally subsides by the morning.

(VcB Tip: Definitely isn’t pain free but bearable, especially after a few nights. Use the serum immediately after to sooth and nourish your skin. The masque was also great for calming redness.)

Q: 95% of women who have tried have seen positive results. Tell us more about this.
In our clinical studies, we have independent dermatologists track the results of the study participants as well as get feedback from the participants on the results they are seeing.

Here are those results:

  • Dermatologists observed that 94% of users had significant improvement in the smoothness of their skin
  • Dermatologists observed that 82 of users had significant improvement in periorbital wrinkles
  • 77% of users reported reduction in fine lines and wrinkles are reduced
  • 95% of users reported smoother skin and improved overall appearance
  • 93% of users reported more radiant complexion
