Long-time Whistler restaurant Trattoria has been sold after 30 years of operation.

The 4417 Sundial Place eatery was the more casual sister restaurant to Il Caminetto and was in the Umberto Group’s portfolio of eateries which includes downtown Vancouver’s Giardino Restaurant.

Owner Umberto Menghi shared a message with patrons thanking them for their support, reiterating that while the sale was “bittersweet” for him, Trattoria is in “good hands.

We’ll keep you posted on any changes that may come with this sale. You can read the full statement below.

More than 30 years ago, I opened my beloved Trattoria in Whistler. It was the more casual sister restaurant to Il Caminetto. We made friends, near and far. Many would return to Whistler and dine just with us. Today, it is with bittersweet feelings that I announce the sale of Trattoria. We had been undergoing renovations for the past two years. And, just before we were ready to unveil, we received an offer and decided it was time for someone else to dedicate their passion and love for the space. We know Trattoria is in good hands.

Thank you so much for the loyal patronage over the years at Trattoria. We hope to see you at Giardino or Villa Delia very soon.

Umberto
