All the trade-deadline rumours currently swirling around Vancouver Canucks players

The Vancouver Canucks have been in selling mode for months.

And on Wednesday, they got another big piece of business done.

Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin was able to trade 36-year-old defenceman Tyler Myers to the Dallas Stars for second and fourth-round draft picks.

But of course, he shouldn’t be done there.

With nearly everyone on the Canucks roster reportedly being available outside of Filip Hronek and the young players, here’s the latest on all Canucks players who’ve been involved in trade discussions.

1. Conor Garland

On Tuesday, it seemed like the Canucks were on the verge of trading Conor Garland.

Then, things went quiet.

Multiple reporters have suggested on Wednesday that, while the New York Islanders certainly had interest in acquiring Garland, a formal trade offer was never presented.

The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun reported on Wednesday that the Islanders, Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals and New Jersey Devils have all shown interest.

CHEK’s Rick Dhaliwal has also mentioned the Columbus Blue Jackets as a team that called the Canucks about Garland. RG Media’s Jimmy Murphy said the Detroit Red Wings also inquired.

2. Evander Kane

There was a time when Evander Kane was seemingly the most likely Canucks player to be dealt.

Not so fast.

Is there a chance that the Canucks aren’t able to trade Kane? The Athletic’s Thomas Drance and Dhaliwal have both suggested that keeping Kane is in the cards.

The Canucks would surely have to retain part of Kane’s $5.125-million salary. They have one salary retention spot remaining for this season after the Myers trade.

Kane’s rumoured destinations originally included the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars. TSN’s Chris Johnston also reported last week that the Carolina Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning have shown interest as well. Dhaliwal has also linked Kane to the Los Angeles Kings.

3. Elias Pettersson

For those hoping Elias Pettersson gets traded before the deadline, don’t get your hopes up.

Yes, there have been teams that have called on Pettersson, including the Hurricanes, Kings, and Red Wings.

However, multiple reports have suggested that a deal before the deadline seems unlikely. The major sticking point appears to be that the Canucks have no interest in retaining his salary on his contract.

The fact that he isn’t playing well also isn’t helping.

4. Jake DeBrusk

Like many Canucks, Jake DeBrusk could probably use a change of scenery.

He basically suggested as much earlier this week when chatting with Ben Kuzma of The Province.

Although there are some teams where DeBrusk could be a fit, the Canucks reportedly haven’t been getting many calls on the winger.

DeBrusk is in the second of a seven-year contract worth $5.5 million per season.

5. Brock Boeser

As Brock Boeser said, it would be a trade deadline without his name in the rumour mill.

Unlike last year, however, a Boeser trade seems unlikely.

He’s just months removed from signing a seven-year contract worth $50.75 million. So far this season, Boeser has just 12 goals and 26 points in 53 games.

RG Media‘s Murphy reported that the Bruins are interested in Boeser. Their general manager, Don Sweeney, has long had an interest, according to Murphy.

Sweeney reportedly was interested in Boeser at last year’s deadline before the wheels fell off in Boston, and they decided to become sellers. Boston apparently wanted Boeser again in free agency before he eventually re-signed with the Canucks.

6. Teddy Blueger

Considering he’s one of just three pending unrestricted free agents that the Canucks have, it may seem like a foregone conclusion that Blueger is dealt before the trade deadline.

But, if last year is any indication, there’s certainly a chance Blueger sticks around.

The 31-year-old has already stated that he’d like to stay in Vancouver. Pair that with the fact that he hasn’t really been linked to any teams makes you wonder if he will stay in Vancouver past the deadline.

If he gets dealt, a third-round pick would be a decent return for the Canucks.

7. David KƤmpf

Call him Teddy Blueger-lite.

David KƤmpf has been a servicable, albeit unexciting, fourth-line calibre centre for the Canucks.

No teams have actively been linked to him. If the Canucks could recoup a late-round pick for the Czech centre, that would be considered a win.

8. Drew O’Connor

Who would have predicted that Drew O’Connor would lead the Canucks in goals this season?

O’Connor leads all Canucks on the roster with 14 goals this season. He’s certainly one of the only players on the roster who has performed above expectations.

The 27-year-old has been linked to the Islanders by Stefen Rosner of The Hockey News. O’Connor is in the first of a two-year deal paying him $2.5 million per season. He has a 12-team no-trade list.

9. Linus Karlsson

Alongside O’Connor, Linus Karlsson has played above expectations this season.

After sitting as a healthy scratch to begin the year, Karlsson had enjoyed a breakout year with 11 goals and 23 points so far.

NHL insider Frank Seravalli reported on Wednesday that the Tampa Bay Lightning have called the Canucks about Karlsson. Seravalli reported yesterday that they were in on Cole Smith, who was eventually traded from the Nashville Predators to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Karlsson is making the league minimum of $775,000 this season, but he recently signed a two-year extension worth $2.4 million, beginning in 2026-27.
