The Toronto Blue Jays will be playing in the ALCS for the first time in nearly a decade.
The Blue Jays were able to punch their ticket to the ALCS with a 5-2 win over the New York Yankees in Game 4 last night. Thanks to ending the series in a rather short fashion, they will have a bit of time to rest and prepare for what will be a best-of-seven matchup. The question that remains, however, is who they will play.
The Jays are awaiting the winner of a series between the Seattle Mariners and the Detroit Tigers to determine who they will go up against. The two AL Central squads are currently tied 2-2 in their best-of-five matchup, with Game 5 set to be played in Seattle at T-Mobile Park.
While the Jays’ opponent remains unknown, we do know what days the series will be played. We also know that regardless of the outcome, the Blue Jays, who finished first in the AL with a 94-68 record, will have home-field advantage.
Here’s a look at how the schedule is set to shake out.
- Game 1: Sunday, Oct. 12 (in Toronto)
- Game 2: Monday, Oct. 13 (in Toronto)
- Game 3: Wednesday, Oct. 15
- Game 4: Thursday, Oct. 16
- Game 5*: Friday, Oct. 17
- Game 6*: Sunday, Oct. 19 (in Toronto)
- Game 7*: Monday, Oct. 20 (in Toronto)
Ticket sales for ALCS games at Rogers Centre got underway this morning, and, unsurprisingly, sold out quickly. Resale tickets are available, but they are certainly not cheap.
The cheapest tickets for the Jays’ four potential home games of the ALCS on Ticketmaster at this time are as follows: $470.66, $492.67, $585.58, $649.15.
While there is still plenty of baseball to be played, the Blue Jays are now just one more series win away from playing in the World Series for the first time since their last appearance back in 1993.
