As the number of newly-reported coronavirus cases lowers across Ontario, more people are out and about… but physical distancing continues to be important.

To remind Torontonians to keep their distance from one another, a goofy campaign featuring Tom Hanks has officially launched.

The new effort, coined “#HanksForDistancing,” uses life-sized Tom Hanks decals to show people how much distance they should be maintaining from others.

Now in frontĀ of the LCBO locations at both Queens Quay and Spadina, city-stompers are sure to see the giant stickers in front of other businesses very soon.

“As luck would have it, Tom Hanks (who recovered from COVID and is a vocal mask and distancing champion) is exactly 6 feet tall, making him the perfect safety measurement tool,” said Public Inc., the agency behind the campaign.

While the message is to remain vigilant, the incorporation of one of Hollywood’s favourite dads/neighbours/captains/train conductors makes it fun and lighthearted, too.

Keep an eye out the next time you’re strolling around the neighbourhood — you might just catch a glimpse of Hanks stuck to the ground!

In the meantime, “Hanks for distancing.”
