$900 ticket issued after "overheight vehicle" hits overpass in Surrey
A hefty ticket was issued after an overheight vehicle hit and damaged an overpass along a highway in Surrey.
According to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, a vehicle heading eastbound on Highway 1 at 192 Street caused “superficial damage” to an overpass on Wednesday.
A photo showing a large piece of debris was seen on the road and shared on X. RCMP said a piece of metal had come off of a pickup truck which Mainroads cleaned up.

The ministry’s Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch and RCMP responded to an incident, and violation tickets totalling $909 were issued.
Daily Hive has reached out to the RCMP for more information regarding the fines issued.
The ministry added that the carrier involved in the incident, Goodies Trading Ltd. “was suspended by CVSE pending investigation” as of Wednesday.
Eastbound lanes were impacted but the road fully reopened to traffic after the overpass was inspected.
According to the ministry, this is the sixteenth highway infrastructure crash so far this year. The provincial government website that records recent incidents has yet to be updated with this incident.
“The ministry has introduced a series of measures to stop infrastructure crashes, including progressive enforcement, introducing the highest fines in the country, and effective June 1, a new requirement for dump trucks to have in-cab devices to warn when their dump box is raised,” it added.
