Thunderstorms forecasted for Vancouver Tuesday

Dec 19 2017, 11:05 pm

Environment Canada is forecasting a risk of thunderstorms in Metro Vancouver on Tuesday, May 5.

The weather agency predicts the storms could occur between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. tonight, with rain lasting until about 11 p.m.

Temperatures today will hover around 13 degrees Celsius.

Vancouver’s weather is set to return to sunny skies beginning Wednesday and temperatures will rise to a week high of 20 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday.

While thunderstorms in Vancouver are extremely rare compared to our eastern counterparts, they do make for some decent entertainment when one finally rolls around.

To bring back one fond thunderstorm memory, we’ve resuscitated the July 2009 timelapse of a spectacular lightning and thunderstorm arriving just in time for the Celebration of Light fireworks show.
