Staff coronavirus case confirmed at New West retirement residence

Fraser Health announced Saturday that a staff member at Thornebridge Gardens Retirement Residence has tested positive for coronavirus.

The residence in New Westminster houses seniors who live independently as well as those who need more assistance.

The employee is self-isolating at home, and Fraser Health has dispatched a rapid response team to Thornebridge to help stop spread of the virus.

The team is working to identify anyone who may have been exposed to COVID-19, and further restrictions have been put in place at the home. Visitors to the residence have been restricted, cleaning has been increased, and residents are being screened for symptoms twice a day.
