Thomas Müller injured and here's what the Vancouver Whitecaps said about it
Thomas Müller left Wednesday’s game against the LA Galaxy, but his injury is not expected to be serious, according to Vancouver Whitecaps manager Jesper Sørensen.
“I think it’s a dead leg,” said Sørensen. “He could feel that it was getting worse and worse. We’ll have to see. It’s not, probably, a long injury, but we are very shorthanded in between games here in regards of time, so we’ll have to see if he makes it for Sunday.”
Müller took a hard challenge off the ball in the 22nd minute from Galaxy left back Julián Aude after he dummied a pass, taking Aude’s knee to his right leg.
The veteran tried to continue, limping his way through the next few minutes, but ultimately left the game in the 27th minute. Cheikh Sabaly replaced Müller.
Müller was able to contribute before the injury, though, by flicking on a throw-in from Ryan Gauld into the path of Brian White for a stunning opening goal.
The Whitecaps continued to cruise against the Galaxy with Müller off the pitch, scoring twice more in the second half, while goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka kept a clean sheet at the other end, his 10th of the season.
The 3-0 victory keeps the Whitecaps at the top of the table in the Western Conference with a 14-5-4 record.
