During those rainy days in Vancouver, fans and sports clubs in Vancouver can be thankful that they have BC Place.
Well, that’s the case as long as BC Place keeps the rain out.
And on Wednesday, the stadium’s roof didn’t fully do its job.
The Vancouver Whitecaps played CF Montreal to a 1-1 draw during the first leg of the Canadian Championship Semi-final at BC Place.
During the match, it appears as though water was leaking from the roof.
It wasn’t just leaking in one place either, as the leaks appeared in multiple locations.

One leak appeared to be hitting fans in prime seats, near the front row section at midfield.
Another leak appeared right near Whitecaps goalkeeper Isaac Boehmer.

Thankfully, the leak appeared a little bit to Boehmer’s left, and he appeared to be unaffected.

Daily Hive reached out to PavCo for comment on last night’s leaks.
“We are aware of the roof leaks that happened during last night’s heavy rainfall,” a PavCo representative said. “The roof at BC Place is regularly inspected and maintained; however, during periods of particularly heavy rainfall, isolated leaks can occasionally occur.”
“Our Facility Operations team is onsite during all events and able to respond to these issues in real time to minimize impacts. Our team is conducting a thorough assessment of the roof today and is continuing to address any areas of concern following last night’s rainfall.”
This isn’t the first time there have been leak issues from the roof at BC Place.
Back on Aug. 30, 2014, there was a leak bad enough during a Whitecaps game that buckets were deployed. We later learned that there was grease on some of the roof panels, which ended up being replaced.
There were also issues with leaks when the new retractable roof was first installed in 2011. That included a leak that was repaired just prior to the 2011 Grey Cup, which the BC Lions won on home turf.
One fan posted a video back in 2024 of the roof leaking, with another fan claiming that water has been dripping on him for two years in Section 251.
It’s certainly been an interesting year for BC Place, with the highs of the FIFA World Cup, coupled with the incessant Whitecaps relocation drama.
Wednesday’s leak is just another footnote in the 2026 BC Place story.
