Cyrus Chestnut (Coastal Jazz)

  • What: First-call pianist for the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band and both The Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall Jazz Orchestras, Cyrus Chestnut absorbed years of experience as a sideman with Betty Carter, Wynton Marsalis, and scores of other great players. Now, he’s stepped into the spotlight as a charismatic and thought-provoking composer and bandleader. Blending contemporary and traditional jazz with gospel and hints of Latin and samba, some call Chestnut the greatest jazz pianist of his generation.

YVR Food Fest

  • What: Arrival Agency’s sixth installation of their popular summertime food festival (formerly known as Food Cart Fest) will offer not only their signature Street Food Showdown, but expanded foodie programming that will include a long table dinner, a huge outdoor brunch, a Canada Day BBQ with live music, and the speaker series Food For Thought.

Ryan Adams

  • What: Acclaimed singer-songwriter Ryan Adams returns to Vancouver in support of his 15th studio album, Prisoner, a direct transmission from the singer-songwriter’s psyche and soul, right down to the album artwork painted by Adams himself.

Improv X Canada

  • What: The Fictionals and Friends are celebrating Canada 150 on June 27 at Cafe Deux Soleils with Maple Mayhem. Improv X Canada will be inspired by the newsmakers, sights and history of this great country for a night of comedy.

Elaine Quehl – A Design Journey

  • What: Award-winning Canadian quilt artist, teacher and designer, Elaine Quehl offers a digital presentation and trunk show of her recent work. Elaine is best known for colourful, nature-themed art quilts featuring luscious foliage, flowers and trees. She was the Canadian Quilter’s Association Teacher of the Year in 2015.

Unite! A celebration of Canadian multiculturalism

  • What: Engage with artisans and roaming performers, participate in a variety of interactive experiences, workshops, and creation stations as you make your way to the North Point for the main event. The stage on the North Point will be programmed throughout the day with a variety of acts – popular performers including musicians, dancers and drummers. The day will finish off with a free concert on the stage at the North Point, featuring Alex Cuba and headliners Delhi 2 Dublin.

Bokante

  • What: Newly formed Bokanté is the brainchild of Snarky Puppy founder Michael League, bringing together eight musicians from four continents to create a diverse ensemble rich in groove, melody and soul.
