The countdown is on to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Vancouver, and it’s starting to feel more real with each passing day.

The city’s official FIFA World Cup song was released today, giving Vancouver its anthem for the international event. The track was produced by Grayson Repp, a Canadian DJ who now works for FIFA and has performed and produced music for some of the largest soccer events around the world.

The song is heavily influenced by local First Nations. Voices and instrumentals from the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations have been used as samples in the song.

An accompanying video has been produced for the song, which has a variety of action shots from some of Vancouver’s most iconic landmarks, including different beaches, Lions Gate Bridge, Granville Island, the surrounding mountains and more.

Vancouver is hosting a total of seven matches. Two of those seven games will be in the knockout rounds, and two others will be group-stage matches featuring Canada.

Some preliminary details about tickets have already been revealed. Canada Soccer has an allotment of tickets for which they’re responsible, which will be handed out through a random weighted draw.

This will be the first men’s World Cup to feature games played in Canada. It’ll be a huge moment for sports fans across the country as one of the world’s premier events comes to Canada.

Vancouver isn’t the only city that got an anthem for the World Cup. Each host city is getting its own, and the one for Toronto has already been released. These songs are separate from the official tournament anthem, which is yet to be announced. Iconic tracks like “Wavin’ Flag” and “Hips Don’t Lie” have been the official anthem in the past.

The full version of the Vancouver song is available now on YouTube.
