This is yet again a case of Vancouver forgetting about the other sports team and their successes. The Whitecaps are once again in the finals, this time against Montreal and yet there is no buzz in this town, save for a few hardcore soccer fans in this town. I know the location of the stadium sucks and soon we’ll be in the MLS, however that does not mean the traditional media can ‘t support them.
So sure the Canucks play the Habs tonight and it is an important game, every Canuck game is. However another Vancouver team, the Whitecaps will be playing another Montreal team in the final of USL Division 1 soccer. That to me is a far more important game and should get more coverage in the print, radio and television media.
The first game will be this Saturday October 10, 2009 at Swangard Stadium in Central Park. Go Caps Go!
