Editor’s Note: The Office will not be leaving Netflix Canada’s streaming platform, after all. This article has been amended and updated with the latest information.

The Office will soon be leaving Netflix for good, but only for US customers.

In June 2019, Netflix USA announced that “NBC has decided to take The Office back for its own streaming platform — but members can binge watch the show to their hearts’ content ad-free on Netflix until January 2021.”

NBC has secured the exclusive domestic streaming rights to The Office beginning in 2021.

The Office has become a staple of pop-culture and is a rare gem whose relevance continues to grow at a time when fans have more entertainment choices than ever before,” said Bonnie Hammer of NBC Universal in a statement.

This announcement was also retweeted by Netflix Canada.

However, in an email with Netflix Canada’s customer service on January 1, 2021,  no additional information was provided as to how much longer The Office will remain on the streaming service. A Netflix Canada representative told Daily Hive that customers will be given “months notice” before the series gets taken off the platform.
