Vancouver restaurant group to remove US beer and booze from happy hour menus

Since US President Donald Trump announced his controversial tariffs on Canadian goods, and Canada responded with its own tariffs, many Canadians have opted to replace their favourite American goods with those made in Canada.
Despite the 30-day tariff timeout, many are still upset with our neighbour down south and plan on prioritizing Canadian-made products for the foreseeable future. Even grocery stores across Canada have started to display “Made in Canada” stickers on Canada-made products.
Restaurants and bars across the country have also started prioritizing local offerings. The Narow Group announced that it will no longer offer US-sourced beer and booze on its happy hour menu at its Vancouver restaurants.
Starting on February 7, The Narrow Lounge, Uncle Abe’s, and Slim’s BBQ are removing US-sourced beer and booze from their happy hour menus, regardless of the 30-day tariff timeout.
“The Narrow Group has decided that bullying and threats aren’t welcomed at its establishments, and so Happy Hours are 100% free of beers, spirits, and wines from south of the 49th parallel,” said the restaurant group in a press release.

“Since day one, The Narrow Group has prioritized being a respectful and safe place for our guests and staff,” said founder David Duprey, “and when President Trump decided to threaten and bully our country, we knew it was time to do something.”
“We’re going to stand up for fair play, support our neighbours and friends, and make sure our drinks and spaces are 100% bullying-free.”
