The Vancouver Canucks are getting Thatcher Demko back into the crease.

After missing the last three games due to an undisclosed injury, the all-star Canucks goaltender is officially healthy and will get the start against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night. Demko was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate, and Vancouver head coach Adam Foote confirmed that he will be the team’s starter.

This will be Demko’s first start since November 3, when he was able to pick up a 5-4 OT victory over the Nashville Predators.

“He’s gonna play tonight. Demmer is ready to go,” Foote confirmed.

It’s great news for the Canucks, as Demko has a long history of injuries, and the fear was that this would keep him out for a long time. While the Canucks did not confirm the nature of the injury, multiple insiders have been reporting that the team was never overly concerned about it.

With Demko set to return to the crease, it appears that both he and the Canucks feel like the issue won’t cause any further problems. Vancouver defender Marcus Pettersson told the media after the skate how much of a boost having their starting goalie back will provide.

“It’s huge,” Pettersson said. “He’s had a great start to the season… Demmer has looked so good early on in the year. It’s a huge boost every time you get somebody back into the lineup.”

The 29-year-old goaltender has had exceptional numbers to start the season. Though he holds just a 5-4-0 record, he ranks 11th in the NHL in save percentage (.912), 14th in goal-against average (2.57), and sixth in goals-saved above-expected (+7.6).

He will try to improve those numbers against a Jets team that has lost three straight.
