The Vancouver Canucks will be getting a new fan this spring.

And whenever they’re old enough to go to a game, they’ll probably get some pretty good seats with perks.

As announced on social media, Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood and his wife, Ariel, will be welcoming their first child together next year.

It’s been quite the year for the 30-year-old Columbus, Ohio, native.

The Sherwoods tied the knot earlier this year, making their marriage official in a July wedding at Stonepine Estate in Carmel Valley, California, after a summer 2024 proposal in Turks and Caicos.

And while he’s been hitting a lot of life milestones away from the rink, things haven’t been too bad for Sherwood on the ice, either.

As an undrafted free agent out of the University of Miami (Ohio), Sherwood sticking around in the NHL as a regular has already far surpassed many expectations of him during his younger years.

Sherwood has been having a standout season for the Canucks so far, scoring more than half of his career-high goal total from last year already.

A sudden fan favourite, Sherwood’s definitely taken note of his usual strong reception in Rogers Arena from the Vancouver faithful.

“It means the world,” Sherwood recently replied when asked by the media about the fans chanting his name during a recent home game. “It’s why you play the game… just those feelings.”

In the final year of a two-year deal, the expecting father will also have some interesting career decisions to make in the coming months.

Given that the baby is on the way in the spring, the Sherwood family can only hope that they’ll be either in the midst of – or gearing up for – a Canucks playoff run, with the team’s last regular season game coming on April 16.
