New Tegan and Sara music video is a shameless love letter to Vancouver
A new Tegan and Sara music video, which features a couple of other notable artists, is one of the most shameless love letters to Vancouver that we’ve ever seen.
Just to be clear, that isn’t an insult. The shamelessness is clearly meant to be a proud celebration of the city and some of its notable landmarks.
The music video featuring the new track “Our Year” was released today and is the first new music from the fan-favourite band since 2022.
One of the top comments on YouTube states, “When we needed them the most… they have returned with a banger!”
The video and track also feature artists Felix Cartal and Lights.
Some of the notable landmarks featured in the video include City Centre Hotel and H.R. MacMillan Space Centre. There are also plenty of shots of the Vancouver skyline.
At one point, we get a close-up shot of a sign for Cornwall Avenue. We even get Cartal on a bicycle.
“Special thanks to the Vancouver Canadians and the BC Lions for the jerseys,” the YouTube caption says, referencing the jerseys some of the artists are wearing in the video.
This isn’t the first time Tegan and Sara have celebrated Vancouver. Back in 2022, Tegan and Sara, along with the Arkells, filmed a music video in what some Vancouverites would consider an iconic landmark in the city, Kingsgate Mall.
Arkells lead singer Max Kerman even called it the most legendary mall in the city.
While Tegan and Sara love Vancouver and have spent time living in the city, they originally hail from Calgary, Alta.
Tegan and Sara have been nominated for numerous awards, including an Oscar for their collaboration with The Lonely Island, “Everything is Awesome.”
For folks hoping for another Tegan and Sara live tour, a post from the duo might give you a little bit of hope for some live performances next year.
