"Belligerent" teen holds knife to man's throat along Kingsway: VPD

Oct 27 2020, 6:19 pm

A teenager was arrested earlier this month after reportedly pulling a knife and holding it at a man’s throat.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says that the victim was leaving a store in the 1300 blocks of Kingway, when he was “approached by a teenage boy he did not know.”

The man reportedly told the teen that he didn’t want to speak with him and continued to walk away.

Police say that the suspect became “belligerent” and allegedly pulled out a knife, holding it to the man’s throat.

The victim was able to back away and found safety inside a taxi, where he called the police.

VPD later found the suspect in the area and arrested him for assault with a weapon. Fortunately, the victim was unharmed during the incident.
