TEDx returns to East Vancouver's Renfrew-Collingwood Neighbourhood

Dec 19 2017, 8:11 pm

For the second straight year, some of Vancouver’s leading innovators, educators and social entrepreneurs will be gathering in one of the city’s largest neighbourhoods of Renfrew-Collingwood to discuss ideas worth spreading.

TEDxRenfrewCollingwood is the brainchild of Niki Dun and Gemma Scott, and has been carefully curated to fit the East Vancouver neighborhood it calls home.

“It has been designed not only to share the ideas of some pretty amazing Vancouverites with the audience, locally and globally, but to continue to introduce the city to our community and to encourage people to come and see what this vibrant neighbourhood is all about,” said organizer Niki Dun.

This year’s iteration of the daylong conference takes place on October 25 and looks like it will live up to the reputation of being both exciting and educational that last year’s conference earned. In addition to eye-opening TEDx Talks, attendees can look forward to captivating performances, engaging activities, great food and an after-party, all included in the price of their tickets.

Rock, Paper, Scissors

This year’s speakers and activity leaders will be working under one unifying theme – a game we have all played since we were kids: Rock, Paper, Scissors!

More than just a ubiquitous pastime, the game is a problem-solving tool that crosses language, age, gender and culture. It is the perfect theme for an event based in East Vancouver, known for its diverse and multi-ethnic makeup.

“Rock, Paper, Scissors” also reflects the amazing range of speakers crossing the stage – each of whom addresses a problem and speaks to an Idea Worth Spreading that is relevant not only to attendees, but to people across the globe.
