The Olympic Winter Games in Italy are officially underway.

Team Canada marched out at the Milano Cortina Olympic Opening Ceremony, showcasing the 206 athletes that will compete for glory at the games.

The festivities started outside of the stadium in Milan, where some of the athletes were rocking out to Shania Twain.

Then, while rocking their bulky and brown Lululemon jackets, Canadians marched into the ceremonies.

During the broadcast, Vancouver Goldeneyes captain and former Ottawa Charge defender Ashton Bell was seen beaming to the crowd.

Heck, even longtime coach Pete DeBoer, who’s been out of an NHL job but will be an assistant coach at the Olympics, was spotted during the festivities.

However, there was a pretty notable difference between these opening ceremonies and others.

Athletes marched into the games in not one, not two, but four different locations.

The main opening ceremonies were held in Milan, where the majority of Canadian athletes were located.

Notably absent from the march through Milan were Canada’s named flagbearers for the games.

MikaĆ«l Kingsbury and Marielle Thompson carried the flag for Canada in Livigno, where they’ll compete in moguls and ski cross, respectively.

There were many other athletes over in Predazzo, while many of the sliders for luge, skeleton and bobsleigh were dancing through the streets of Cortina.

Although the Canadian mixed-doubles curling team was busy prior to the Opening Ceremony, things get underway for real on Saturday. Canada has medal hopefuls in four events on Saturday, including freestyle skiing, alpine skiing, speed skating and snowboarding.
