Taxi uses bike lane to cross Vancouver's Cambie Bridge (VIDEO)

Nov 30 2019, 7:01 am

Dashcam video uploaded to YouTube Friday evening shows what appears to be a Bonny’s Taxi vehicle driving south over Cambie Bridge in the bike lane.

It’s quite an unorthodox way for a taxi to exit Vancouver’s downtown core.

In the video, you can hear the shock in the driver and passenger’s voices as they gasp “what?” and “sorry, what?” when they pass the yellow taxi on wrong side of the bike lane divider.

The taxi cruises along, keeping a safe distance behind a cyclist in front of it. But towards the south end of the bridge, the bike lane narrows.

“What’s he gonna do here?” dash cam capturer asks, laughing.

It’s unclear what the taxi did to navigate the narrowing bike lane, because the dashcam car moves further ahead. Users on Reddit have suggested the cab could have driven over the flexible pylons to make it back to the roadway.

Daily Hive has reached out to Bonny’s Taxi for further details.
