A popular Metro Vancouver thrift store is closing its doors after over two decades in operation, and shoppers are sharing their despair about the news online.
Talize posted the “difficult news” about its Delta location on social media, stating that after 21 years, it would be shutting down on Monday, Nov. 23.
According to the announcement, saying goodbye wasn’t easy.

“Since opening in 2005, Delta has been one of our longest-standing locations,” said the Toronto-based Talize.
“Over the years, you’ve made this store so much more than a place to shop. You’ve donated with purpose, discovered countless treasures, shared stories at the checkout, and helped build a community that we’ve been proud to be part of.”
According to their website, Talize sells donated clothing, shoes, accessories, homeware, books, toys, and more, “all while contributing to the health and sustainability of our planet.”

Dozens of comments filled Talize’s announcement with messages of sadness and memories about the thrift store.
“Noooooooooooooooo,” said one follower online. “My favourite place to shop. This is heartbreaking.”
“I’ve been shopping here since it opened and you had disposable cameras.” added another. “Talize helped me develop my personal style through high school and into adulthood.
“It’s still IMO the best thrift in the Lower Mainland. It also gives me a reason to visit my hometown in the suburbs. I’m so sad about this.”
Talize thanked all of its fans and encouraged everyone to come down for a store closing sale that starts on Saturday, Oct. 3.
“We hope to see you in the store before we close, and we’d love to continue welcoming you at our Langley location.”
