Mounties say charges have been laid against a 22-year-old man in connection to a stabbing that took place at a Surrey banquet hall in 2019.

On February 15, 2019, police were called to the Bollywood Banquet Hall in the 8100-block of 128 Street after receiving reports of a stabbing.

At the time, the hall was hosting a concert and hundreds of people were inside the venue.

Investigators found a 20-year-old man suffering from a stab wound and he was rushed to hospital. The injuries were serious but non-life threatening.

RCMP have said that a Surrey resident, Karnvir Garcha, has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and assault causing bodily harm. Garcha is currently in custody and appears in court later this month.

“We appreciate all who came forward to assist us in this investigation,” said Surrey RCMP’s Staff Sgt. Kirk Duncan, in a release.”We all have a responsibility when it comes to public safety and, in this instance, everyone stepped-up and helped us to bring about a successful conclusion.”
