A woman from Surrey was transported to the hospital on Sunday night after being struck by a taxi.
According to RCMP, the incident took place just after 9:20 pm on Scott Road.
A 22-year-old female was crossing the street and stepped in front of a SurDel Taxi moving south.
She received head injuries and was taken to the hospital, fortunately, the damage to her body was non-life threatening.
Police explain that she was on her phone when she stepped off the curb and into the path of the cab.
The taxi driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police. Surrey RCMP state that neither speed or alcohol were factors in the collision. They do note, however, that “pedestrian inattentiveness is a contributing factor.”
Part of Scott Road was closed for a short period of time but reopened before 11:30 pm.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has dash cam footage of the incident is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
