Surrey teacher's Iggy Azalea "Fancy" parody music video slams provincial government

Dec 19 2017, 8:05 pm

“I’m so fancy Fed Up…” Some people took to social media while others wrote letters and planned rallies, but one Surrey public school teacher chose to channel her frustration and talents into a hilarious video that highlights the mudslinging spirit of the current labour dispute between the BCTF and provincial government.

Leanne Kuzminski, a teacher for the past 14 years in Surrey school district, has created “Fed Up” – a parody of Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy.” She says budget cuts in her classroom have been detrimental to learning outcomes, noting the urgency to have funding for public schools restored.

“As a proud BC teacher, my hope is that this ends soon, and the government chooses to make education a priority in this province.”

The music video was produced and written by Kuzminski and local actor Adam Abrams. Kuzminski is also known as “Miss K” to her students and performed the parody’s rapping. In total, eight people were involved in the creation of the video.

FED UP- to the Tune of “Fancy by Iggy Azalea”

… First things 5irst I’m a realist (realist)
… Drop this and let whole province hear it
…And I’m still in the teaching Bizness
Try to break us down, you need a lesson in Fairness (right right)

… Can’t go on treatin’ teachers like this
…Gearin’ up to picket just like this
…Cup of Buckies, Cup of Tims, Cup of Mc’s
Runnin’ shoes on our feet and a sign says we resist

… Christy Clark talkin’ trash on the union
…Goin’ round spreadin’ lies and confusion
…Spend her time spreadin’ disinformation
‘Steada gettin’ down to some real negotiation

CHORUS:

I’m so Fed Up
You don’t even know
I’m in the picket Line
From Terrace to Pitt Meadows

I’m so Fed Up
Can’t take this no more
Remember her name
When you next vote.

We said Christy you did this, do you not have a conscience?
You can’t stand the teachers, and honest the truth is
You stripped our contract, the judge did con5irm it
Massaging the facts, you lie to the public

Didn’t get our funding this time, we saw conditions decline
Too many kids in each class, can’t get no testing in time
So put the money back in for education in kind
I just can’t worry about no haters, gotta stay on my line

Now tell me who that, who that? That do that, do that?
Teachers need respect I thought you knew that, knew that

I am the BCTF put my name in bold
I’ve been working up in here with 10 years cuts fo’sho

CHORUS:

I’m so Fed Up
You don’t even know
I’m in the picket Line
From Terrace to Pitt Meadows

I’m so Fed Up
Can’t take this no more
Remember her name
When you next vote.

Rush the parliament
Contact your local MLA
Make a phone call
Tell them all what you really want
Yeah keep on turning it up
Keep writing letters, put pressure on
Protest, rally it up
Abritation is the best way to solve
(ow)

…Got to fund that public education
… Got the LOWest spending in the nation
Droppin’ all the money on the LNG,
…Ain’t a dime left for the ABC’s.
…It’s just the way she likes it
So slick she wants the public to buy it
But we’re standing strong, holding the line
Get the kids back before we’re all out of time

CHORUS:

I’m so Fed Up
You don’t even know
I’m in the picket Line
From Terrace to Pitt Meadows

I’m so Fed Up
Can’t take this no more
Remember her name
When you next vote.

Who that, who that? B-C-T-F
That do that, do that B-C-T-F
Who that, who that B-C-T-F
