Homicide police are investigating after the deaths of two people in a house fire in Surrey on Thursday were deemed suspicious by the RCMP.

According to a release, Surrey RCMP were called to the 17400 block of 28B Avenue at about 2:45 pm after receiving a report of a home on fire.

Police found two people dead inside the house, and have now deemed their deaths suspicious.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is working with Surrey RCMP to establish what happened.

Police have not yet identified the victims, but they believe their deaths were not random, and the public is not in danger.

The area will be cordoned off for a considerable time, say police, and investigators are still gathering evidence.

If you have any information about the case, please call the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email [email protected]. To stay anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or at solvecrime.ca.
