Early morning shooting in Surrey sends 1 man to hospital

Surrey RCMP is investigating after early morning shots were fired in the city’s Morgan Creek neighbourhood.

According to a release, at around 2:12 am on Friday, January 3, 2020, RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the 15900 block of 26th Avenue in Surrey.

Police say evidence was found confirming that shots had been fired, and officers located a single male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The male victim was transported to hospital for treatment with non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP says the investigation is in its early stages, and officers will remain in the area for an “undetermined period of time,” as they continue to investigate the incident.

According to RCMP, officers are conducting neighbourhood canvassing and speaking with witnesses in order to obtain further information.

Police did not specify if the shooting was targeted, or if a suspect had been identified.
