Surrey police investigating after woman sexually assaulted by masked man

Surrey RCMP is investigating after a man allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in North Surrey on Monday night.

At 10:25 pm, police received a report that a man had grabbed a woman from behind as she was walking home in the 12700 block of 113A Avenue.

The victim screamed causing the suspect to flee the area prior to police arrival. The victim told police she believed she may have been followed prior to the incident.

Now, Surrey RCMP’s Special Victims Unit (SVU) is leading this investigation. Officers are  canvassing the area for surveillance footage that may show the suspect and any potential witnesses.

The victim, who was uninjured, described the suspect as an Asian male, 5’9, slim to medium build, and with short black hair that is spiked in the front. He was wearing a dark hoodie under a black vest or jacket, black framed eyeglasses, a white mask, and dark baggy pants.

He may also have been carrying a backpack.
