One man was arrested and subsequently charged after a Surrey crash that sparked a scary knife chase.
According to the Surrey Police Service (SPS), the incident took place earlier this week, on Sept. 9, at Redwood Park, around 4:45 p.m.
A 37-year-old man, Richard Mark James Evoy, was charged with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of assault, one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count of criminal harassment, and one count of uttering threats.
SPS says that it was called about an alleged assault in Redwood Park, located near 179th Street and 20th Avenue in South Surrey. SPS says that the victim attempted to drive away in a Ford pickup truck when the suspect drove his Jeep Wrangler into the truck.
The victim tried to flee from the suspect on foot when the suspect brandished a knife and chased the victim.
“Fortunately, a nearby witness driving a Tesla provided the victim safety until SPS officers arrived,” SPS says.
A video has been shared on social media depicting these events, and SPS confirmed it is of the same incident. It looks like something out of a horror/thriller movie.
The caption alludes to the same idea, saying, “Tonight was straight out of a movie.”
