Car thieves found dead after rolling vehicle into Surrey cemetery

On Sunday, June 10, the Surrey RCMP were notified of a serious motor vehicle crash.

The incident took place on 192 Street at 16th Avenue at approximately 6:30 in the morning.

Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered a vehicle that had apparently rolled several times before coming to a full stop at a nearby cemetery.

RCMP believe that the drivers travelled through a “T” intersection at 16th avenue at a very high speed and failed to make either a right or left turn, speeding through the bushes and into the cemetery instead.

The two adult male occupants in the vehicle were found dead on arrival.

After further investigation, the Surrey RCMP have since learned that the vehicle was stolen from Langley during the night. It was later in the morning, after the collision, that the owner reported the vehicle as missing.

Officials have not released the identities of the victims, however, they have confirmed that both males were known to the police for criminal activity.

The RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) and the Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstructionalist Services (ICARS) are currently continuing the investigation.
