If you heard explosions that sounded like fireworks, you weren’t mistaken. A number of Vancouverites were treated to a private fireworks show this evening in downtown Vancouver.
The high-aerial fireworks display began just after 6:45 pm and were fired from the waters in front of the Vancouver Convention Centre in Burrard Inlet.
It’s unclear who exactly was responsible for tonight’s show, but Vancouver Convention Centre noted it was organized by a conference and lasted approximately 5 minutes.

These events work with a local event production company and are required to acquire permissions from the City of Vancouver, Port Metro Vancouver, and the Convention Centre. They are not publicly announced beforehand to ensure that large crowds do not form and police and clean-up costs are kept to a bare minimum.

Ok. Other than Disneyland who gets more fireworks displays than Vancouver? — Never get used to this city’s obsession of lighting off random fireworks on weekday nights. Always scare the heck outta me. Thought it was an explosion or sth

Either Vancouver is under attack or something, or there are some very weird artillery-sounding fireworks going off on a complete non-event of a Wednesday?!???!?
