Sunny and cold week in Metro Vancouver forecast

Dec 20 2017, 2:40 am

Bundle up, it’s going to be a cold week. A high pressure system has developed over much of British Columbia, bringing sunny and cold conditions that are expected to last until early next week.

According to Environment Canada, fair and dry weather will be paired with cold temperatures due to lingering influence of the arctic air outflow. Daytime temperatures will hover close to 5°C, but this will plummet to subzero levels in the evenings.

For today’s forecast, cloudy conditions are expected to clear up by noon.

While snowfall is not in the forecast, the cold temperatures and low freezing levels will provide perfect conditions for snowmaking. Later today, the freezing level will drop to 700 metres in Metro Vancouver and 600 metres at Whistler Blackcomb.
