7 summer jobs students can apply for right now in Vancouver
Midterms are winding down and spring is finally in the air – at least according to some groundhogs anyway. Before paper season gets in full swing it’s about time to start securing your summer job.
You can probably almost taste the financial freedom of having a steady income again. You’ll be able to go out for food, buy some new clothes and maybe even plan a few weekend retreats.
So to help get your job hunt going here’s our list of some of the best summer jobs you can apply for right now in Vancouver.
Rocky Mountaineer
Seasonal positions/Rocky Mountaineer
Recently voted employer of the year by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, a Summer job at the Rocky Mountaineer will be an unforgettable experience. With positions opening as early as April, you can finish finals and officially be employed all within the same week.

Luggage Host: Tag, load, sort and unload guest’s luggage while providing other services as required. Positions are available in Vancouver, Kamploops, Jasper and Banff.
Destination Host: Provide exceptional guest service during departures and arrivals. Positions are available in Vancouver, Kamploops, Jasper and Banff.

If camping and the great outdoors are your thing, you’ll love spending the summer as a rookie tree planter. Sure this job requires a lot of hard work and self motivation, but when you could be earning up to $300-$400 per day who cares right?

Become an Au Pair
Have you ever dreamed of being a nanny (or manny)? Maybe not, but if the gig allows you to travel and live abroad, or hang out in a pretty cool Canadian city it sounds a lot more enticing right? Au pair positions are a great opportunity to immerse yourself in another culture, or just to move out of your parent’s house for a few months. Either way, you’ll find yourself bonding with a new family and making money while doing it.

Parks Canada

Do you want to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday by landing a Summer job in a national park? There are currently positions available all across the country, and Parks Canada LOVES students. Applications are due soon, so get your application in ASAP.

Trail Maintenance: Help maintain trails, grounds, and facilities. Positions are located in Banff National Park.
Visitor Facilities Attendant: Clean and maintain facilities to enhance visitor experience. Positions are available in Jasper and Banff National Parks.
Summer camp counsellor
Let out your inner child and get paid to make crafts, eat hot dogs, and coordinate epic games of tag. Positions vary in length and are available exclusively to students. With competitive salaries around $15/hour these openings won’t last long.

Summer camp counsellors are currently needed in in Victoria, Coquitlam, and Delta.

Imagine the wicked farmer’s tan you’ll earn after a full Summer of landscaping. Maybe you’ll also gain some much needed arm definition after two terms of toiling away in school. This could all be yours if you find yourself a Summer landscaping gig.
Become a Red Bull Wings team member
For anyone who’s seen a Red Bull Mini Cooper and thought that’s my calling, it’s time to make your dreams a reality. Red Bull is currently hiring students to be part of their Wings Team. You can be the person everyone loves by giving out free Red Bull all Summer long.
Work at the PNE

Since the PNE is only open during Summer they conduct mass hiring waves to fill literally hundreds of positions. Positions range from parking attendants and actors, right the way through to games operators and maintenance staff. Recruitment starts in May so be on the lookout for job postings.
