Vancouver Police are investigating after a 46-year-old man was stabbed in Strathcona Park early Friday morning.

“This man has some major stab wounds to his body,” said VPD Const. Tania Visintin. “With the amount of people in the park, we believe there is someone who has information on what happened.”

Visintin said the victim is believed to have been stabbed inside a tent in the park around midnight. “At 8 am this morning, a woman found the victim on the corner of Raymur Avenue and Venables Street wrapped in a towel soaked in blood,” said Visintin.

The man was taken to hospital, where he is described as being in “critical but stable” condition.

“It is very troubling to know this man was suffering from his extensive injures for eight hours or more before paramedics or police were called,” said Visintin.

She noted that two possible suspects have been arrested at this time.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information about this crime to call 9-1-1 or Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
