A coronavirus outbreak has been declared within a FedEx depot at the Kelowna airport.

The shipping centre is located at 6191 Airport Way. Interior Health says in an emailed statement that “three staff members are confirmed positive.” Six additional staff members are also isolating at this time.

“The business has sufficient precautions in place to prevent COVID-19 transmission to the public, and there has been no COVID-19 exposure to the general public,” says the Health Authority.

Interior Health also explains that the shipping centre with the outbreak isn’t directly connected to the airport, adding that “no exposures have occurred from FedEx staff to airport workers.”

“Public health officials are supporting each staff member in isolation and are grateful for FedEx’s efforts and cooperation.”

On Thursday, health officials in British Columbia announced that the province had officially passed 11,000 coronavirus cases.
