Police puzzled by strange door-knocking incident in B.C.

Police in B.C. are hoping members of the public will come forward to answer some questions about a strange and suspicious event that took place in the Fraser Valley.

According to the RCMP in Mission, the incident, which occurred on Jan. 20, surrounds a Toyota Rav4.

The vehicle, occupied by four people, pulled up outside a home on Phelps Avenue in Mission at around noon. A male wearing a balaclava got out of the rear passenger side door and ran up to the house.

Police say he then knocked “forcefully” with both hands and ran back to the Rav4, which subsequently fled the scene.

According to the RCMP, investigators don’t yet know whether this was an “irresponsible prank” and the house was chosen at random, or if it was an instance of intimidation directed toward that specific house.

To help answer those questions, police are releasing some details about the incident.

Police are hoping that witnesses come forward to assist in identifying the suspects, or that the suspects themselves “will come forward and take responsibility,” and to clarify their motives.

Mission RCMP hopes that if the individuals do come forward, it will reassure residents in the area that there will not be any further such incidents.

The vehicle is believed to be a grey 2006-2012 Toyota Rav4. The suspect, white, was wearing a balaclava, black pants, dark green Crocs, and a long-sleeve camo shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161, quoting file number 2026-820.

Update:

Mission RCMP said that the male involved has come forward and admitted involvement. Mission RCMP will not be seeking any other suspects at this time
