Impatient Canadians can soon order their Starbucks ahead by app

The Starbucks mobile app has been negating the dreaded wallet reach for users for some time now, but things are about to escalate to a whole new level of convenience, as the global coffee chain further rolls out their order and pay ahead program.

It’s a basic protocol: Launch your app, tap in your order, beam it to the location of your choice, pay for it, show up, grab your at-the-ready Grande non-fat no-whip two-pump white mocha, and get the heck outta there. Boom.

After a trial period in select U.S. cities, Starbucks Coffee Company announced Tuesday they were opening up the program nationwide, with select company-owned stores in the UK and Canada to follow in October. (So, yes, you will get to experience the joy of pre-purchasing your Pumpkin Spice Lattes for a time.)

Naturally, Starbucks is pretty stoked about this next crucial step in coffee and croissant accessibility. “Bringing Mobile Order and Pay to our customers is about meeting their needs of convenience and customization at any time of the day” said Adam Brotman, Starbucks chief digital officer, in a news release.

Brotman is also pleased with how well the app option has been received by customers, and what this means for the next phase of first world retailing. Although, to be fair, it’s not so revolutionary that you can order edible things ahead and pay for them (see: take out food), but that it’s app and location based, and it’s cups of coffee, to boot, that are making this move remarkable.

Now, about that delivery thing…
