Non-dairy fiends — or anyone who likes their coffee to be a little reminiscent of childhood cereal breakfasts — something delicious is coming your way.

Starbucks announced on Thursday that this fall, “oat beverage” will be launching at all company-owned locations across the country.

Offering a mild flavour and velvety foam, Starbucks Oat Beverage is non-GMO, includes no preservatives, artificial flavours or colour, and is made with oats sourced from Canada.

According to the coffee purveyor, oat beverage has become a fast-growing dairy alternative in Canada. Expanding plant-based choices means more choice, customization, and an increased ability to meet customer preferences, Starbucks says.

Additionally, these offerings go hand-in-hand with the company’s sustainability commitments, announced early this year.

Starbucks’ first non-dairy beverage option — a soy alternative — hit its core menu in 2004. Now, oat beverage is the fourth non-dairy option to be introduced by the brand, joining soy, almond, and coconut in the rankings.

Since January, the company has launched several beverages specifically created with non-dairy alternatives, including the Cold Brew or Nitro Cold Brew with Cinnamon Almond Foam, and the Kiwi Starfruit Starbucks Refreshers beverages.

Also this year, Starbucks added the Beyond Meat, Cheddar and Egg Sandwich to its menu.
