Starbucks and Aeroplan launch groundbreaking new partnership

Coffee- and travel-lovers have cause to celebrate as Starbucks and Aeroplan announce the arrival of a new partnership that gives Canadians more ways to quickly earn Stars and points.

Two of the country’s most recognized rewards programs — Starbucks Rewards and Aeroplan — have joined forces to bring customers an even more rewarding experience, allowing them to pour on the points to their next reward.

This means Canadians can link their Starbucks Rewards account to their Aeroplan account to earn both Starbucks Stars and Aeroplan points when ordering their favourite beverages and food from participating Starbucks locations in Canada.

“This ground-breaking partnership makes it simple for the millions of Starbucks Rewards and Aeroplan members to link their accounts and accelerate their earnings and, ultimately, be rewarded even faster,” says Peter Furnish, vice president, Product and Marketing, Starbucks Canada. “With meaningful new benefits like this, we are excited to welcome new customers to try the convenient digital experience on the Starbucks app.”

To celebrate the launch, a number of limited-time offers are available to allow people to maximize its benefits. For instance, until June 6, customers can earn 25 Aeroplan points each time they make four or more transactions using Starbucks Rewards in a week.

Until May 31, people can earn 50 Aeroplan points every time they redeem two or more Starbucks Rewards of 150 stars or more in a month. Those subscribed to both reward programs and have linked their accounts are also eligible to purchase Starbucks Cards with fewer points at preferred rates. This includes redeeming as few as 1,000 Aeroplan points for a $10 Starbucks Card through the Aeroplan eStore.

The partnership is Starbucks’ latest initiative as part of its commitment to generate opportunities for customers to get more out of their favourite products. Following the enhancement of its industry-leading loyalty program and convenient app, Starbucks initiated a partnership with TD Bank that would enable TD Aeroplan Visa cardholders to earn points faster.

Until November 7, 2021, customers who pay with their TD Aeroplan Visa card will earn 50% more Aeroplan points when they load or reload their Starbucks Card or make purchases at participating stores in Canada.

Those wondering how they can begin collecting points and gain access to exclusive rewards can start by linking their Aeroplan and Starbucks Rewards accounts. Once linked, members can start earning Aeroplan points each time they reload their Starbucks Rewards account — 75 points for $50 (up to $74.99) and 150 points for $75 or more.

A one-time bonus of 400 Aeroplan points will also be applied for those who are new to Starbucks Rewards when they create their first account, link it to their Aeroplan account, and make their first transaction using the Starbucks app within one month of creating their Starbucks Rewards account.

“We redesigned Aeroplan with the feedback and ideas of over 36,000 people. Consistently across this group, members told us that they wanted more opportunities to earn and redeem points in their everyday lives at their favourite brands. We’re proud to launch this first-of-its-kind partnership with Starbucks, a globally respected brand offering a best-in-class experience for all its customers,” said Mark Nasr, Senior Vice President, Products, Marketing and eCommerce at Air Canada.

“New everyday partnerships with well-loved, frequently used brands are another reason to get excited about the reimagined Aeroplan,” he says.

To get started, you can download the Starbucks Mobile App and learn how to link your Aeroplan account and get access to exclusive rewards by visiting aircanada.com/starbucks.

*Starbucks Rewards is available at participating Starbucks locations. Purchases at Starbucks licensed stores and Starbucks Delivers powered by Uber Eats are not eligible for bonus Aeroplan points.
