Win the perfect Raincouver essential by spreading the love this month

Is it just us, or did January feel like it went on for an eternity?

The days were short, the clouds loomed overhead, it rained a lot (what’s new?) but finally, we have made it out the other side to February. We’re already feeling more optimistic with the forecast looking sunnier (albeit still a bit chilly), and store shelves switching over to red cards and love hearts.

That’s right — Valentine’s Day is approaching. But why leave only one day in February for spreading the love, when you can do it all month long?

This month, Kitsilano’s West 4th Avenue is celebrating all things LOVE, and inviting you to join in.

Throughout the month of February, visit West 4th Avenue and see the sidewalks between Fir and Balsam adorned with Spread Love decals, encouraging photo opportunities and getting out in the sunshine.

And you can do your part for a good cause too — head to your favourite store on West 4th to pick up a packet of wildflower seeds so you can spread the love to your own garden. Come springtime, you’ll have beautiful wildflowers that are not only vibrant and colourful but show love to the bee population in Vancouver.

Along the stores of West 4th Avenue, you’ll also see vibrant Spread Love umbrellas scattered throughout window displays.

To receive one of 100 Spread Love umbrellas (perfect for brightening up the rainy days in Vancouver), all you have to do is tag #LOVEonWest4th when you post on social media — there are giveaways happening daily throughout February so make sure to keep tagging away.

In addition to the love affair taking over West 4th Avenue the entire month of February, on Valentine’s Day itself, West 4th will be hosting local radio host and poet Casey-Jo Loos in “Coffee with Casey-Jo” at 49th Parallel Coffee (2198 West 4th Avenue).

At the event, the first 50 attendees will receive a free 49th Parallel Coffee and Lucky’s Doughnuts, as well as a signed copy of her newest poetry collection, i see you. i am you. The event will start at 10 am, and you can get your own Spread Love umbrellas and wildflower seeds while you’re there.
